Vetter Dental

Most of us have less-than-fond childhood memories of visiting the dentist. We remember cold, sterile environments, with uncomfortable plastic chairs and dull beige walls. We can still hear the whine of a dental drill and smell the disinfectant in the air.

Dentists and their employees can be some of the warmest, most welcoming medical professionals around, but their offices don’t often inspire comfort. They are uniformly plain and often outdated, with shelves of old magazines and–if you’re lucky–a fish tank.

Dr. Austin Vetter understood the challenge of creating a welcoming environment for his dental patients–so he enlisted InterOffice for support merging eye-catching futuristic design with the warm and welcoming nature of his practice.

Making the Space His Own

When Dr. Jay P. Erickson retired from his Fargo practice in 2018, he handed over the proverbial keys to Dr. Vetter. However, as the years went bye, Dr. Vetter still thought the physical space didn’t feel like “his.”

“It never feels like truly your practice until you get a chance to design the building and all the equipment to your liking,” Dr. Vetter said. “I wanted an extremely modern office. I wanted amazing technology that hasn’t been seen in other dental offices to this point.”

Vetter Dental serves all ages, but focuses on family dentistry. As a father of four, Dr. Vetter knew how important it was to create a welcoming environment for parents and kiddos alike. InterOffice helped him achieve this by incorporating clean lines, monochromatic color schemes, and warm woods.

“They made the process easy. They listened to my vision and were able to recommend furniture that would compliment my goals,” Dr. Vetter said.

Form Meets Function

Dr. Vetter’s newly designed office is both futuristic and timeless. The waiting area, with its Hex Lounge from OFS and Bowler Side Tables from HAY, provides patients a comfortable space for waiting while also being visually interesting. The furniture is functional for patients too, with outlets and USB ports easily accessed in the Headway Communal Tables from Herman Miller in the lounge.

As patients make their way to the exam rooms, they’re greeted with not just comfort, but high style thanks to the Classic Eames Molded Side Chairs from Herman Miller. But the real highlight is the full entertainment suite with surround sound that is located in each operatory.

“The purpose was to make you feel like you are in a movie theater,” Dr. Vetter said.

Even the areas that patients don’t often see have received a makeover. In the lab, Capisco Stools from 9 to 5 Seating offer both stylish form and superior comfort to employees crafting everything from dentures to implants to crowns.

This practice has allowed us to see more patients and provide more help to the people of Fargo.

There are plenty of features and furniture that both patients and providers alike can use. Dr. Vetter’s personal favorite is the new coffee bar, where adults can grab their favorite latte and kids can get a nice cup of hot chocolate. Dr. Vetter can even be spotted getting his favorite vanilla latte after lunch. The warm smell of freshly ground coffee wafting through the practice is a welcome deviation from the instantly recognizable dental office scent.

While a new facility is exciting and fun to look at, Vetter Dental’s new equipment doesn’t just look pretty–it serves an important function.

“It allows us to help more people,” Dr. Vetter said. “This practice has allowed us to see more patients and provide more help to the people of Fargo.”
